That’s right. I am back in the classroom. I’ve designed a new series called Garments for Quilters. These ladies work magic behind the sewing machine, but many steer clear of making things for themselves because they can’t conquer fit or alternate fabrics. That needs to change.
Garments for Quilters is a series designed for people who have been using a sewing machine to quilt, but haven’t tackled making garments for themselves. Most classes on beginning garment construction are geared towards people new to sewing. The series will focus on reading/interpreting patterns, making clothes that fit, fabric selection, and the parts of your sewing machine you haven’t used yet.
I’ve chosen the 1025 Laurel pattern by Colette to teach from. It’s Summer, so why not start with a simple sundress that can be made in cotton to start out with then we will move on to making it with dressier fabric. Classes will be at remnants:fiber[culture] (North) and A Quilter’s Folly (South) throughout the Summer. Visit the Classes page for more information.
