You are cordially invited to join us in celebrating the Clothing Hospital’s move to Fabricker, the launch of a new class series, and Earth Day.
We all have clothes in the closet that we don’t wear for one reason or another. Wrong fit, wrong style, you name it. But why are they still in there? Bring in those neglected clothes for mending or alterations, or drop them off for someone in need.
Apparel Surgeon, Jen Delk (aka Spinsta) will be available for consultations. Clothing donations will be sent to ARC of Texas and will get you $5 off of mending/alterations at Clothing Hospital.
Don’t forget to LIKE us at:

So mark your planners, visit for a bit or enjoy the entire event. We look forward to visiting with you all.
Last post for the evening.
So,Vintage Vivant was supposed to be on vacation for July. Then, out of the blue it was back on with a Love on the Left bank theme. I had no clue what I was going to wear. Then I decided to do what the French did best. Lacy underthings. I turned a sad cotton sundress that I had purchased at Treasure City for a quarter into cami-bloomers. It wasn’t a difficult transformation. It was just a pain to remove the tiny pink sequins scattered all over the dress.
I located the center of the skirt front and back and cut a slit to create bloomer legs. Then I sewed the inseams together. I debated adding lace or elastic at the bottom but decided it was too much. A last minute Target run landed me some awesome stockings (one day I will make sock garters for them).
In the last week I have destroyed a giant heap of sweaters (high end sweaters) to produce 9 hat/scarf sets. There are also a few unmatched hats and scarves. You might say that is awesome. But it’s not. The only reason that happened is because I am in a bad mood, and when that happens it is just best for me to be in my sewing cave away from all people (usually destroying things). I am not in some sort of crafter’s holiday rush right now. My hatred for retail (and bitchy customers) keeps me from selling my stuff in stores and the internet (BTW. If someone out there wants to be the go between for a minimal fee, preferably merch, let me know).
To the people who are concerned about my disappearance or perhaps the fact that I haven’t been answering my phone, stay tuned, you could end up with something nice and warm.
I suppose the plus side to spending a billion hours in front of the sewing machine is that it keeps me off the internet.

spinster n.
The word spinster came into common use during the early 19th century when the task of spinning cloth had been pushed onto unmarried women as a way to earn their keep in the home.
Spinsta Spinster
Contemporary use of the word conjures up a mental image of an independent a childless, stylish frumpy, middle-aged woman who is a jet-setting, trendsetter somewhat depressed, and is an inspiration to other women longing to be like other "normal" women.
