I bought a serger

by @ 2:29 am. Filed under From the desk of Spinsta

The new serger will be arriving in just a few days. I decided it is time to get over my fear of sergers. This was spawned by the fact that I am striving to make more durable pants. I have been using my sewing machine to overlock the edges of the outer leg seam (I use the flat felled approach for the inner leg seam) and I know that is adding to the overall wear and tear of my machine. I used to pink the seams but after awhile everything will fray.
The purchase was also spawned by the super good deal I got at costco.com. They have a 23 stitch Serger for $199. The Simplicity Frontier (same thing as the Babylock 450). Since cosco rotates there stock out quite frequently I decided to go for it. I can always return it if I find something better.

Contemporary use of the word conjures up a mental image of an independent a childless, stylish frumpy, middle-aged woman who is a jet-setting, trendsetter somewhat depressed, and is an inspiration to other women longing to be like other "normal" women.
