I have been BUSY. I shouldn’t complain since we are in a recession but two rush jobs in a week was a bit much. My repair gig at Amelia’s landed me a theater project. My job was to create a 1920’s deco dress from a 1990s beaded dress for A Ride with Bob.
It sounded like an easy job. Remove the sleeves, finish the arm holes, take it in, hem it, turn the sleeves into appliques, and hem it. It was easy if I could have used the sewing machine. The dress was beads and sequins on silk which if sewn over would have broken. It was easy if I could have cut the sleeves off. The dress was actually well made,“ everything was french seams. Needless to say, there was a lot of time spent ripping out stitching and hand sewing.

[update 10/12]“ Michelle Valles wore this dress on stage. I haven’t located pictures from that but I have a picture from her final fitting at Amelia’s.
